on Mars has been deciphered by Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity. Sedimentary strata exposed in the excavated escarpment reveals changing depositional conditions, alternating between eolian and fluvial environments. Opportunity is presently en route to Endeavor Crater. More discoveries await.
