La Brea Tar Pits...
are still yielding valuable Pleistocene fossils. This world famous site, sitting in the heart of urban Los Angeles, and featured in the horrible geo-disaster movie "Volcano," is a must visit for any geologist.

You know, of course, the EWU athletic department will be minding the pits in hopes of finding a well preserved football. This would give them argument for continued funding for their programs. You know,...scientific research funding.
