Does anybody twitter...

or tweet? It seems to be an increasingly popular convergence of social networking and micro-blogging. If you read this blog, and engage in "twittering" or "tweeting," please leave a comment about your experience.

Important question: why would/should I be interested?

  1. Important question: Have you discovered your colleagues in the Geoblogosphere? Have a sip from the firehose. Are you interested?

We blog, we twitter, we podcast, we GigaPan... we do all the cool social media tools. We've even got a Pardee Keynote Session at this year's Annual GSA Meeting in Portland.

So come visit our blogs, comment, swap links, join the community - and by all means Twitter. So many of your posts are just crying out to be tweets.

    Sincerely,
    Ron Schott (Blog, Twitter)

  3. I tweet a fair amount. My twitter is also linked to my facebook profile, so any status changes or micro blogging that I do from twitter is updated on facebook too.

I usually follow people in my profession. Keeps me up-to-date with upcoming and new technologies, I share my experiences and read others' etc. You gain first hand knowledgde that way and are able to interact. Makes life a lot easier.

Twitter is great, especially if you have a phone that makes it easier for you. I use iPhone that offers great user experience for both facebook and twitter, and ofcourse tons other applications (including Geology/related)

There is a lot of misuse out there too of course, what I call "useless noise". Some people just put their lives out there, discussing every aspect of it which I am not interested in. Like in real life, choose your friends carefully, follow and be followed by people who add value.

    So there, my two cents!

  4. I tried to tweet on twitter, though I seem to be lacking in the skills needed to operate the site. I gave up, deciding that there were more pressing matters awaiting me. Like beer.
